New Year

How does Attitude affect learning?
Hello, I am Mrs. Gable, Biologist, teacher, and fellow learner.  I have been teaching for 12 years and a life long learner.  I believe learning is fun and exciting because exploration of how things work and learning about others experiences never gets boring.  I have always had an adventurous spirit, I lived in Africa for two years as a Peace Corps Volunteer, and lived and worked in 7 states. Each of these experiences I learned something.  Learning is experience and this is why I live to learn.

As we open a new school year, I set new goals and am excited about the opportunities to learn from other teachers and students. My goals include guiding each of my students to earn a B average on all assessments. I know that as team we can achieve this goal. It is important to consider that how we begin our year affects the entire year; Attitude is everything.  If you consider that there are 26 letters in alphabet and you assign A to 1 and Z to 26 then, A=1, t=20 t=20 i=9 t=20  u=21 d= 4 e=5. Attitude adds up to 100. In order to achieve my goal I must think it is possible, believe it is possible, and have a positive attitude that it is possible.  I am up for this challenge.

When I began applying to colleges, I was working against attitudes about my abilities to succeed.  I struggled but I always kept trying.  Success doesn't come with one try, but many failures.  I know this to be true. I have many examples of how my first try was unsuccessful, but that isn't the point here.  My attitude to keep moving forward, to keep trying, and to do my best is.  I challenge each of you to acquire the attitude that although the first attempt wasn't what you expected, to keep trying because the reward is attainable when you are always trying.

I am hopeful and excited about the new school year and that I will work to guide and support my students through the learning process. Remember a positive attitude towards learning promotes your success.
